Our team was tasked with designing a chair made exclusively from concrete and bamboo plywood, making the design process partially directed by the properties of the materials. .
The chair was made with glass fiber reinforced concrete which allowed us to achieve half inch thick back rest, while maintaining its strength. We wanted the user to feel the familiarity of linear concrete while at the same time we included subtle curves and thinness to the design to break the user away from traditional notions of what can be done with concrete.
